Edirne – this beautiful city is famous for its many mosques with elegant domes and minarets that reveal views from all over the countryside. One of the most important monuments of antiquity is the Selimiye Mosque (or Selimiye, the name comes from the Ottoman Sultan Selim II). Built in 1575 by the great architect Mimar Sinan. The Selimiye Mosque has the tallest minarets in Turkey – 70.9 m and a spectacular dome.

The Medical Museum

This museum tells about the progressive medical practices that were used here at a time when the care of the mentally ill was at a medieval level. Instead of confining patients in cells and shackling them, as has often been the case in the past, they have used flower and music therapies here to improve patients’ condition.
